Meet
Cindy Lazarenko
Cindy is an Edmonton chef with Ukrainian and Métis roots. As chef owner at Edmonton's beloved Culina Highlands restaurant from 2009 to 2012, Cindy was known for her local and Eastern European cuisine. After selling her restaurant in 2012, she worked with her brother Chef Brad Lazarenko as the Director of Catering for Culina Family of Restaurants. More recently she has been teaching, both in person and online.
For the past year Cindy has been working with the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation in Grande Cache training the community members as camp cooks for an Indigenous Tourism experience. Cindy is passionate about her community, and loves to support local artisans and farmers. She also loves to cook with kids and volunteers at the C5 Community Hub in Edmonton, teaching youth basic cooking skills.
When she's not cooking, Cindy loves to spend time at her family cabin near Smoky Lake, Alberta, practicing yoga, hiking and food writing: she has a cookbook in the works!
