This afternoon we’re collaborating with Edmonton Eats in welcoming Afaf Bayoud into our studio kitchen, to teach her family recipe for Libyan Honey Cake. Afaf’s cake batter is enriched with honey and walnuts, then the finished cake is layered with her delicious caramel cream cheese filling. Afaf will be joined by her daughter Jwearia, for an hour of food and culture. We’re looking forward to talking to Afaf and Jwearia about their food memories and traditions and how they have integrated their culinary heritage into their new life in Edmonton.
“Edmonton Eats is an emerging social enterprise that partners with local host families and culinary experts to create unique cultural dining experiences. We celebrate food, culture and community while providing economic opportunities for Edmonton’s immigrant and refugee communities.”
