Pork Gyoza. Dumplings with Mai Nguyen

Get Cooking

Join our favourite Masterchef Canada alumnus Mai Nguyen, owner of Gourmai Dumplings, and learn how to make her traditional Japanese Pork Gyoza. You’ll learn how to make Mai’s pork filling as well as six different ways to wrap and fold these delicious morsels. And Mai will teach you an easy dipping sauce, then finally how to cook your home-made dumplings too.

Ingredients for Pork Gyoza Filling* 1 lb ground pork, shredded cabbage, green onions, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, salt, ground pepper, and round dumpling wrappers (Mai prefers Wing’s brand, available at Lucky 97 in Edmonton, Ab).

Ingredients for All Purpose Dumpling Sauce*: soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil.

* We’ll be discussing potential substitutions for ingredients during your class, including using ground chicken instead of ground pork.
