Virtual Cooking Class: Fish (Good) Friday – Seafood Paella

Eating seafood is a Good Friday tradition, and who are we to argue with tradition? So we’re starting our Spring season of Fish Friday online cooking classes this Good Friday with one of our favourite one pot meals: Paella. For our Paella with Seafood & Spring Greens Kathryn will take you through every step on the road to achieving perfectly cooked rice and seafood, from the selection of rice and seafood to choosing the right spices and the appropriate stock. She’ll be making her Paella with Clams, Squid, Shrimp and Spring Greens and discussing adding Cuttlefish Ink for an Arroz Negro too. We hope that we’ll join us for our Good Friday meal.

Ingredients for Paella with Seafood: paella rice (calasparra or bomba), shellfish or fish stock (or clam juice), shrimp* in the shell, squid*, mussels or clams*, white fish*, white wine, onion, red peppers, garlic, tomatoes, saffron, smoked paprika, peas (fresh or frozen & defrosted), Italian flat leaf parsley, lemon, extra virgin olive oil.

Ingredients for Saffron Aioli: egg yolks, oil (cold pressed canola or mild olive oil), garlic, lemon, saffron.

*use any combination of seafood, according to your preference.

Class Fee: $25.00 plus GST (pricing is per device and allows multiple participants to attend using a single device). Your Fee Includes: A 90 minute cooking class plus a recipe pack including info on equipment needed. Our recipes are distributed manually. If you sign up within 24 hours of your class time, you may not receive the recipe in advance. We will attach it in Zoom Chat at the start of your class. Please use the ingredient list above to shop for your class.

Software Requirement: We are using Zoom for our virtual classes. If you aren’t already using Zoom you can download their free app for Windows, Mac, Android or Apple iOS here. Upon purchase, your meeting ID and password will be included in your Event Confirmation email – please be sure to save this information as you will need it to join your class.

We use Zoom for our online classes. If you aren’t already using Zoom you can download their free app for Windows, Mac, Android or Apple iOS here.

Once downloaded Zoom will help you set up your free account then you’re ready to join us. Zoom will prompt you and ask for permission to use your devices camera and audio, please accept the requests. Once logged in click “Join” from the home page and enter your Meeting ID, which will be sent to you by email with your recipes.
