Join our resident Cheese Maker Aditya Raghavan, owner and cheese maker at Fleur Jaune Cheese, for this introductory virtual cheesemaking class focused on how to make Yogurt and Labneh, as well as a Caramelized Onion Dip. Addie will walk you through how to make your own homemade Yogurt using an immersion circulator or an instant pot. Then he’ll show you how to use your yogurt to make Labneh, the beloved soft cheese of the Middle East, made from strained Yogurt then preserved packed in oil. During your online class Addie will take you through all the stages in the Yogurt and Labneh making processes, and he’ll show you how to make a Caramelized Onion Dip to serve with potato chips too! Then we’ll share a a recording of your class with you so you can finish your Yogurt, Labneh cheese and Labneh dip at your leisure, with the recording for reference.

Class Fee: $40.00 plus GST (pricing is per device and allows multiple participants to attend using a single device).

Your Fee Includes: A 2 hour cooking class; a recipe pack including info on equipment needed; 7 day access to a recording of your class (you can extend your access to 30 days for an additional $5).

Upon purchase, your Zoom meeting link plus ID and password will be included in your Event Confirmation email – please be sure to save this information as you will need it to join your class.

Our recipes are distributed manually. If you sign up within 24 hours of your class time, you may not receive the recipe before the class starts. A summary of ingredients required follows:

Ingredients, Yogurt: 2L whole milk (low fat milk can be used as well), live culture*

Ingredients, Labneh: 1L whole milk yogurt (low fat yogurt can also be used), chili flakes or Aleppo pepper flakes), dried oregano or Za’tar, nigella seeds, dried mint (optional), extra virgin olive oil (or preferred oil of choice)

Ingredients, Caramelized Onion Labneh Dip: labneh cheese (made in class), red onion, olive oil, chives, paprika, garlic.

*Live culture options:

  • store-bought organic yogurt with “live cultures”
  • yogurt starter packets available at health food stores or online

Once downloaded Zoom will help you set up your free account then you’re ready to join us. Zoom will prompt you and ask for permission to use your devices, camera and audio, please accept the requests. Once logged in click “Join” from the home page and enter your Meeting ID and Password, which will be sent to you in your Event Confirmation.
