Virtual Cooking Class: Ale Stewed Beef with Parsnips & Stilton Dumplings

Join Kathryn for a virtual cooking class where she’ll be teaching a British classic: Beef stewed in Ale, with Parsnips and Stilton Dumplings. We’ll be starting our stew at 2:30, then coming back to it at 5 to add the dumplings and finish it with some buttered Savoy Cabbage. You can cook along with us for dinner, or simply watch and take notes. And if you don’t like the stilton? That’s okay, just leave it out! During the break join us to learn how to make Lemon Possets. You can purchase the class as an add-on for a discounted price*.

*Please note you will manually be registered in the Lemon Posset class if you purchase the add-on. 

Class Fee: $40.00 plus GST (pricing is per device and allows multiple participants to attend using a single device).

Your Fee Includes: A 120 minute cooking class; a recipe pack including info on equipment needed; 7 day access to a recording of your class (you can extend your access to 30 days for an additional $5).

Upon purchase, your Zoom meeting link plus ID and password will be included in your Event Confirmation email – please be sure to save this information as you will need it to join your class.

Our recipes are distributed manually. If you sign up within 24 hours of your class time, you may not receive the recipe before the class starts. A summary of ingredients required follows:

Ingredients, Beef Stewed with Beer, Parsnips & Blue Cheese Dumplings: 1 kg beef chuck (or brisket, or other stewing cut of beef), 100 g pancetta or bacon, parsnips, grapeseed or canola oil, onion, garlic, dark beer (stout, such as Guinness), beef or veal stock, fresh thyme, parsley, ground mace, brown sugar, bay leaves, salt and pepper.

Ingredients, Stilton & Walnut Dumplings: self-raising flour, suet, salt, Stilton cheese (or another blue cheese, can also omit the cheese if you prefer), ground walnuts, parsley.

We use Zoom for our online classes. If you aren’t already using Zoom you can download their free app for Windows, Mac, Android or Apple iOS here.

Once downloaded Zoom will help you set up your free account then you’re ready to join us. Zoom will prompt you and ask for permission to use your devices, camera and audio, please accept the requests. Once logged in click “Join” from the home page and enter your Meeting ID and Password, which will be sent to you in your Event Confirmation.
