Virtual Cooking Class: Quiche Lorraine

As perfect for supper in your garden as it is for your picnic basket, Quiche Lorraine is a French country classic, delicious served cold or at room temperature, as well as straight from the oven. Join Kathryn and Cindy for this virtual cooking class and learn how to make our Shortcrust Pastry, as well as how to roll it out and to blind bake it. Then we’ll walk you through making our deliciously light and creamy cheddar, pancetta and leek filling to fill, bake and finish your own Quiche Lorraine, at home. And we’ll talk about alternative fillings that you can use to personalize your Quiche Lorraine too. Plus while our quiche is baking we’ll make a simple vinaigrette, and toss together a summer salad to enjoy with your quiche.

Ingredients for Shortcrust Pastry: all purpose flour, butter, lard, pinch of salt, ice cold water

Ingredients for Quiche Lorraine: butter, leeks, pancetta, whole milk, whipping cream,  eggs, egg yolks, grated cheese (aged cheddar or gruyere), salt and white pepper, grated nutmeg

Ingredients for Vinaigrette: extra virgin olive oil, vinegar (champagne or white wine), garlic, dijon mustard, fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, tarragon ….)

Ingredients for Saladyour choice of salad greens (oak leaf, butter, romaine …), bitter greens (radicchio, endive …), cherry tomatoes, radishes, cucumber …..

Class Fee: $27.50 plus GST (pricing is per device and allows multiple participants to attend using a single device). Your Fee Includes: A 2 hour online cooking class plus a recipe pack including info on equipment needed. Our recipes are distributed manually. If you sign up within 24 hours of your class time, you may not receive the recipe in advance. We will attach it in Zoom Chat at the start of your class on request.

Software Requirement: We are using Zoom for our virtual classes. If you aren’t already using Zoom you can download their free app for Windows, Mac, Android or Apple iOS here. Upon purchase, your meeting ID and password will be included in your Event Confirmation email – please be sure to save this information as you will need it to join your class.

Once downloaded Zoom will help you set up your free account then you’re ready to join us. Zoom will prompt you and ask for permission to use your devices, camera and audio, please accept the requests. Once logged in click “Join” from the home page and enter your Meeting ID and Password, which will be sent to you in your Event Confirmation.
