Elyse Chatterton

Elyse grew up in the kitchen of her family’s dairy farm in the Northwest of England. She learned to cook from her maternal grandmother and mother. Then her passion for food took a turn in another direction at the age of 14 when she started working at the family’s butcher shop, cutting meat raised on the family farm. Elyse learned traditional craft butchery from her Aunty, a 4th generation butcher.

In 2011 Elyse and her family emigrated to Alberta. Since arriving she has worked as a butcher with Sangudo Custom Meat and Irving’s FarmFresh. She is currently working at Popowich Meat Co in Edmonton and is also a proud member of the Canadian Butcher Team: they’ll be competing at the World Butcher Challenge in 2022.

Elyse is a passionate home baker and an enthusiastic home cocktail maker too. She’s been one of the team at Get Cooking since 2016.

In her spare time Elyse can be found lifting weights, gardening, backyard smoking and playing pickleball.
